It’s not your average sea-facing hotel, but it has plenty of quirky, small-town appeal nonetheless. The interior is far from up-to-date – but that’s part of the charm. The hotel also manages the campsite right on the beach – a good option if you’re keen on hitting the surf at first light.

It’s not the most inspired menu on the West Coast, but if you sit outside the uninterrupted sea view is certainly worth it. If you’ve worked up an appetite surfing, the crispy schnitzel or beef burger would be your best bet. Seafood lovers can splash out on crayfish, or simply stick to the calamari-and-chips combo, which is as good as it gets. The cheesy toasted sandwiches are good too.
