The Labia on Orange

This retro screen diva holds a very special place in the hearts of Capetonians. The oldest independent art house cinema in the country, it started life as an Italian embassy ballroom and owes its name to Italian princess Labia, who, in 1949, converted it to a theatre. A vintage barred ticket booth adds a touch of retry grandeur while four screens ply the latest art-house releases and documentaries. The on-site coffee bar and separate chocolate bar offer a tempting range of snacks and beverages.

Tickets: R30 adults; R25 students, Fanatics cards, seniors, children, Labia Card, Ava, Jay-Bee, Edgars movie cards. R20 Discovery movie cards. Movie / meal specials R70 for 2 people at Societi Bistro Mon, Tue; R75 for 2 people at Diva Cafe Ristorante (Buitenkant Street) Wed, Sat, Sun; R75 for 2 people at Kauai (Kloof Street) Thur, Fri after 4pm.

Hours: Box office 11.00am-8:30pm daily.
