R46, just after Michell’s Pass towards Ceres
Western Cape
South Africa
023 312 1211

A gorgeous if somewhat noisy setting when the trucks go hurtling by on the pass, Die Tolhuis (Toll House) has limited indoor (with fireplace for winter) and deck seating, but a sprawling fairy garden with tables is tucked away between the trees and alongside the babbling brook. The small menu is chalkboard traditional South African while service is relaxed.

Open 8.30am-5pm Tue, Thur-Sat; 8.30am-10pm Wed; 8.30am-3pm Sun.

Main courses R60.
