Welcome to unassuming, charming and authentic foodie heaven. Chef Kobus van der Merwe has taken over the helm at the shabby chic tea garden at the local general dealer. The tiny daily chalkboard menu offers well-priced dishes, made with care and expertise. Try home-made open lasagne with confit tomatoes and ricotta (made by Kobus) or chicken pie with tangy sambals. If Saldanha Bay mussels are on the menu, don’t think twice: plump mussels with black forest ham, cream and a zingy gremolata make for a mouthwatering combination. Try not to fill up too much on the moreish freshly baked bread on the side. After lunch, stock up on pickles, jams, bokkom salt, tea-time treats and a pair of velskoens for good measure.

Open 9am-5pm Mon-Sat (till 4.30pm in winter); 9am-3pm Sun.

Main courses R40.
