The Rharhabe Kingdom is a functioning Xhosa Kingdom and has opened itself up to tourists to come and experience the Xhosa traditions and way of life. The Ubukhosi Village is the home of the Xhosa royalty but tourists have been allowed to stay within the village and have a complete Xhosa experience. There are also a number tourism trails, including the Ilifa Trails, where there are still ruins of the old homeland area, graves of liberation heroes and sites of battles fought against the apartheid government.
The Rharhabe Kingdom offers various ways to experience the traditional Xhosa way of life. Staying in the Ubukhosi village, going on walks and also visiting the Imbali Museum, where the history of the Kingdom is displayed, all provide the visitor with an immersion into Xhosa history and culture. Within the Ubukhosi village there are also conference facilities for those needing the service.
