The newly upgraded Johannesburg City Library has reopened, following three years of renovations. The iconic 1935 building hay been transformed into a world-class facility with a R68-million refurbishment, including repairs and extension. The library houses about 1.5 million items, including 700 000 books, as well as DVDs, CDs, sheet music and magazines. A coffee shop is set to open in May and there are regular children’s activity programmes.
