Alexandra Höjer Boutique

When clothing designer Alexandra Hojer arrived in Cape Town three-and-a-half years ago, she wasted no time getting stylish girls sighing over her individualistic garments fluttering on the rails of her Old Biscuit Mill stand. Apart from their flattering cuts, many of Alexandra’s creations are made from fabrics she prints herself, in collaboration with artists like Jesse Breytenbach and Heather Moore, It wasn’t long before demand for the pieces she describes as ‘simple, feminine’ (‘the person who wears them has to shine through’) led to her opening up shop in Gardens.

Working from home-a voluminous Victorian in Tamboerskloof –Alexandra’s effortless style and proudly Swedish roots radiate from every corner. The Swedish-born designer lives with her husband, screenwriter Philip Gardner originally from Zululand, and a pair of adored Dalmatians- Having travelled extensively, with the couple meeting in the Caribbean and then living in New York and Florida, Alexandra is content to settle here for now, surrounded by carefully picked pieces and sentimental treasures she’s carried with her – ‘small things that anchor you down and make you remember’.
