Reynolds Hire & Equipment Sales

It’s been two decades since Seumas Reynolds opened the doors of what has since become the Reynolds Group. One of South Africa’s most successful tool and equipment hire companies. It all began in Johannesburg, at the time Randburg was undergoing a building boom and Seumas, with his many year’s experience working in onsite hire trade, was well placed to keep his fledgling firm growing. His main advantage was intimate product knowledge, which helped him to achieve the key aims of cost-effectiveness and product reliability. As a qualified artisan with a background in the carpentry trade, Seumas has never been shy to share his extensive experience with clients. Seumas says the best extra that we offer is simple - free, expert advice on how to use the equipment.

Soon they had expanded into an additional workshop behind the unit. Before long they opened another branch in Kya Sands, which had a large workshop for testing purposes. The company began to expand and it was around this time that Seumas started to leverage his growing reputation for excellent hire service into power tool sales. He also started to sell tools and added the reassurance of his capable back-up and support services into the package. Before long the sales part of the business was so successful that Reynolds Power Tools was launched. They offered sales and support for AEG, Milwaukee and Diamond Blade and Drills, as well as repairs on all makes of industrial power tools.

In 1993 Reynolds struck a pivotal distribution deal with AEG Power Tools, a close relationship that continues to this day. In fact, their success impressed the German giant that soon they asked Reynolds Group to take on their warranty claims as well, a considerable achievement for such a young firm.

In 1996 Reynolds open their doors in Cape Town. Reynolds Group doggedly applied the same hard work and expert knowledge formula and soon the company was expanding quickly, in part due to its success in adapting its range of Industrial and construction equipment to Cape Town conditions.

In 1999 Reynolds Group took over African Access which has since become the market leader in access equipment rentals in the Western Cape. From the start African Access partnered with top rated access supplier JLG. They have since added equipment from Nifty to supply a large range of scissor and personal lifts, electric and diesel powered boom lifts and trailer mounted access platforms. African Access is a popular supplier to the demanding and deadline-sensitive Cape Town film industry as well as the marine and construction sectors.

Currently, a staff of 31 employees include large mobile maintenance teams for onsite repairs and support for clients. To ensure total compliance with safety standards African Access maintains its fleet with the latest equipment to highest safety standards ongoing year by year.

The Reynolds Group has been involved with a large number of international companies over the past few years. It has been one of the major suppliers to British Construction company who doing trials for the ozone layer which formed part of the 2008 Antartic expedition. The Reynolds group supplied them with a variety of construction equipment for the base camp which helped this expedition to be a successful one.

The latest business venture that Reynolds Group is involved with is the construction of the 2010 Green Point and Port Elizabeth Football Stadiums. African Access (a subsidiary of The Reynolds Group) is the preferential supplier of access lifts used for the erection of the stadium roofs which are been built by the largest industrial roof company in the world. The Reynolds Group has also been one of the leading suppliers for construction and industrial equipment used on site. With the soccer world cup just around the corner there are many tight deadlines to meet and great importance is placed on finishing our stadiums on time. The Reynolds group has helped this process by making sure they are available at all times with equipment that is needed and most importantly excellent service by a dedicated team.

The Reynolds Group is not only involved in business ventures, they also do a great deal for the community. Over the years they have uplifted many lives by supplying soccer gear and bursaries to disadvantaged communities.
