Thebe Investment Group was established in 1992 by the Batho Batho Trust as its sole shareholder - and Nelson Mandela as chairman of the Trust - Thebe Investment Corporation became the pioneer of Broad-Based Black Empowerment (BBBE) in South Africa in its 15 years and one of the most successful businesses in South Africa today.
