Educent - Education and Training

In any education system students will always need to use words. A recent independent education report has indicated that too many students are not making use of the written word. Lack of efficiency in the skills of reading and writing may be making a student an under-achiever.

Most school problems begin with reading. If you cannot read well you cannot learn, nor can you write well. Reading problems often lead to a slow work rate and unfinished work. When they study they become frustrated because the results do not justify the hours of hard work. The frustration shows a loss of motivation and the students are under pressure. Whatever the cause, weak readers lose confidence in themselves and fall behind at school.

Educent is a group of teachers offering remedial education. We offer individual programmes to students who are under-achieving. These are generally students who have ability but who lack the skills required for success in the classroom. A weakness in the basic language skills (reading, spelling, etc) generally indicates a need for remedial help.

We start with an assessment of the student's language skills followed by a full discussion of the results. A written report will be posted to you. If you decide to enrol your student we prepare an individual programme based on the assessment results and on any other information available to us. The programme operates on the basis of a one-hour session per week, outside normal school hours.

We provide all the study material and equipment required. The programme uses a multi-media approach, with up to seven different activities during a session. The programme for each student starts at the level where we know he/she can be confident. It is reviewed and adjusted each week, so that there is obvious progress which can be appreciated by the student. Progress reports are sent to parents/guardians at regular intervals.

We therefore specialise in building confidence, developing the basic language skills and enabling the students to achieve their potential.
