Wolf Brothers Jewellers

In the late 1800's, Angel and Isador Wolf decided to leave their family in London and immigrate to South Africa in search of new horizons. They had grown up in their fathers jewellery business, started in 1867 in downtown London and felt that South Africa was a land of promise and opportunity. In 1902, the brothers put their resources together and opened a modest shop in Adderley street Cape Town. They held stock of a variety of watches and engagment rings.

What they soon experienced is that customers were always wanting personal and individualized service and in order to meet this need, started a small jewellery workshop in the back of their premises. At the same the brothers also recognized the needs of a number of customers who did not live near the city and launched a large mail order catalogue, also serviced from the shop premises. They were now dealing in fine jewellery, diamonds watches and even gramaphones.

By the early 1970's, both brothers had passed away and the business was being looked after by one of their previous employees. By this time the business had once again been shrunk to a modest offering on the high street in Parow, Cape Town. It was at this time that Melvyn Greenstein purchased the business and strated the long journet to recreate the Wolf Brothers Jewellers of old.

Today, Wolf Brothers Jewellers comprises nine branches, six of which are in and around Cape Town and the other three being in Johanneburg. They all operate on the core values that Angel and Isador always believed in. The company is still owner managed and we invite customers to contact us with whatever need they might have.
