In anticipation of the climate change conference to be held in Copenhagen in December, KPMG successfully hosted a Conversation on the business impact of climate change on Tuesday 20 October in Cape Town. Our panel had representatives from a research agency, business, and KPMG.

KPMG hosted a Client Conversation webcast on the 30th September on the Changing Regulatory Business World. Facilitated by business media personality Bruce Whitfield, the discussion ranged from an examination of broad changes in the regulatory landscape affecting business, to the specific implications of the introduction of the Consumer Protection Act, the Companies Act expected to come into effect in June 2010, the expected impacts on business of climate change regulations and the King III Code on Good Governance. For further information please contact the panellists here. If you would like to order a CD of this webcast for your company.

KPMG International is a Swiss cooperative association of which all KPMG firms are members. KPMG International provides no professional services to clients. Each member firm is a separate and independent legal entity and each describes itself as such. (e.g. KPMG Services (Proprietary) Limited, a company incorporated under the South African Companies Act, is a member firm of KPMG International a Swiss cooperative).

We go to market by “Line of Business” or Industry, serving all of the major industries across our economy. This focus allows our professionals to rapidly understand our clients’ needs with the context of their business and the broader relevant industry. Our people enjoy the growth opportunities that this environment offers them.

KPMG has 11 offices in South Africa. Our offices include our National office in Johannesburg and regional offices in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, East London, Nelspruit, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Secunda. With over 3 000 staff and more than 250 partners we are one of the largest Audit, Tax and Advisory firms in the country.

KPMG in South Africa is wholly owned by South Africans, headed up by a democratically elected Board. The Board in turn appoints the Chairman, Chief Executive and Executive Committee. We are proud to be South Africans, operating in the global marketplace. Our passion for the country, Transformation (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) and upliftment of communities is self-evident.

We play a pivotal role in bringing together African practices as a single integrated entity – KPMG Africa Limited. Africa is showing extraordinary potential and KPMG is well positioned to serve our clients’ needs across the continent.

KPMG in South Africa also plays an active role in KPMG internationally. With direct representation on KPMG’s International Board and International Council, the South African firm is well positioned to think globally and act locally. There are almost 40 South Africans who play active role on international KPMG bodies – across the European, Middle East and Africa (EMA) region and further a field globally.
