Glen Afric Country Lodge

Glen Afric Country Lodge is situated 20 minutes from Pretoria and 40 minutes from Johannesburg in South Africa. With good links from Lanseria and OR Tambo International Airports you can leave the hustle and bustle of daily life and find yourself in front of the stunning views of the surrounding Bush veldt and the magnificent Magaliesberg Mountains; it is a truly magical place. The reserve itself consists of over 750 hectares of bush veldt and woodland where wild animals roam free.

Glen Afric also has a number of predators from lions, tigers and even a leopard. Established in 1982 by the Brookers, their hard work and dedication to introducing these animals has increased the numbers and variety of species now in the area. The reserve also has over 300 species of birds.

The reserve sits in the Cradle of Human Kind, a World Heritage Site which comprises of a strip of a dozen dolomitic limestone caves containing the fossilised remains of ancient forms of animals, plants and most importantly, hominids. The dolomite, in which the caves formed, started out as coral reefs growing in warm shallow sea about 2.3 billion years ago.

Glen Afric Country lodge is open to both day visitors and resident guests every day of the year. With an array of activities available from game drives, elephant walks, horse riding and afternoon guided walks with sundowners on Gin and Tonic Hill, or simply sitting on the deck with binoculars watching the wildlife go by, you are never short of things to do.
