A truly Inspiring Social Initiative. And fun too
Kids from both privileged and disadvantaged backgrounds come together to perform daring (some might even say death-defying) acrobatic acts at vertigo-inducing heights at this circus school.
Run by former trapeze artists Esteve and Brent van Rensburg, the circus school has been around for nearly two decades.
Reaching out to at-risk kids, the Van Rensburgs teach their pupils valuable life lessons like trust, honesty, confidence, teamwork and discipline while they juggle, tumble and swing up a storm. The circus way of life is so addictive, in fact, that the young 'uns sacrifice their weekends and public holidays to perfect their craft.
All the hard work pays off in the end when the kids get to demonstrate their gymnastic prowess to a live audience. Most recently, the motley crew of youngsters teamed up with local musos The Parlotones and artist Paul du Toit for the spectacular Art of Rock, a simultaneous performance of acrobatics, painting and live music on one stage.
