Housed on the campus of the University of Cape Town's Drama department, this petite spot was originally a student working space but nowadays it plies a host of professional productions. The Intimate was created in 2002 by theatre makers Christopher Weare and Patrick Curtis - their vision was to create a theatre that would afford professionals room to experiment, something they were denied at more formal venues. Since then the space has carried some pretty pioneering pieces, showcased the work of stalwarts and launched the careers of many young performers. The speck-sized bar is great for a post-show mingle.
