Iziko South African National Gallery

Wandering through the imposing halls of this gallery is an ideal way to while away a Saturday afternoon. The permanent exhibition boasts everything from dramatic chiaroscuros by Dutch masters and pre-Raphaelite portraits to audio-visual works by renowned SA artists. Previous temporary exhibitions have been dedicated to the likes of Nicolas Hlobo, William Kentridge, and even Picasso, whilst one of the most recent included an ambitious retrospective on the local art scene called 1910-2010: From Pierneef to Gugulective.

Hours: 10.00am-5.00pm Tue-Sun

Admission: R15 adults; R5 students with student cards, school-going children and pensioners; under-16s free.
