Walk a tad too fast and you might completely miss this inner-city place of worship. It's the oldest South African slave church building and was completed in 1804 under the auspices of the South African Missionary Society. The tiny interior boasts long teak balconies, intricately carved oak pews and an organ with beautifully decorated pipes. Those with an interest in architecture might be interested to know that the structure is unique in the sense that it was the first in the city to be built in the form of a basilica, and has the only remaining lime-concrete pitch roof in the country.

Hours: 9.00am-4.00pm Mon-Fri; 9.00 am-noons during school holidays.

Admission is Free, donations appreciated.
