It's hard not to get choked up walking over the street map of the erstwhile District Six, where its forcibly removed residents have inscribed their names next to their former ad dresses. The rest of the two-storey museum is equally emotive and sensitively curated to include personal accounts of 11 February 1966 when the government is sued the Group Areas Act, which would see over 60000 residents evicted. Especially poignant are the upstairs exhibits that include a beautiful mural by Peggy Delport, a display of the community's proud barbershop heritage and toys left behind after the suburb was razed to the ground.

Admission Fee: R20 adults; R5 pensioners, children.
