Bella Baskets was born in 2006 and the name originates from the Italian word “Bella” meaning “Beautiful”. This remains the perfect word to describe the gift and corporate baskets made to clients specifications.
The owner Shelley Strїmling was born in Umtata, Transkei and from an early age she enjoyed pretending to be in charge of a restaurant preparing mud cakes and picking leaves and berries which were served to her imaginary patrons.
From her early teens she started experimenting with real food and when she was introduced to spices, with particular reference to Paprika, in grade 8, there was no stopping her in preparing the most delicious meals. She can cook any meal to give it the colour and taste that it deserves.
The concept was initially started as a favour to friends, but very quickly evolved into a business when orders started coming in for baskets/gift packages that were being made individually to suit the recipient’s personality and specific reason for celebration (eg birthday, retirement, special achievement). This handmade, attention to detail and personalised touch became very popular in the odd catering that the owner would do for the same clients who had by now, learned to trust her high quality of service delivery.
A new service being offered by Bella Baskets, is supply of individual hygiene items, all falling under the K.I.S.S. name. The most popular of this is the palmsize handcleaner. This is an instant dry, no water required item. Due to the versatility and size of the container, it can easily be carried in a handbag, a schoolbag, briefcase, laptopbag and even in one’s pocket. The actual cleaning gel is tried and tested and registered and have been in the market for a number of years.
Other items in the range, includes a small handbag size toilet seat hygiene spray. This is mainly aimed at, but obviously not limited to, the female market. Most of the items can be aimed as a package, to the infirm and elderly.
